It's that day when flowers and chocolates are the best sellers. Filtering info from the net, I've known that this celebration actually originated from a law-breaking saint who blesses marriage for soldiers not allowed to be wed. He was incarcerated and he wrote a farewell letter to his jailer using "Your Valentine" as the valediction.
But it was actually Chaucer who romanticized the 14th when he wrote a love poem to honor the anniversary of the engagement (yes, engagement not marriage) of King Richard II to Queen Anne. I still don't know why February 14 though or how feast days are chosen.

You're my ecstasy. You're the one I need. |
The world was influenced by this Western celebration and so different practices emerged but generally the premise is simply make love, not war so yeah. Not bad.
Love you world even though you're cruel. And scary. Love you lovely humans.
Your Valentine,
Elfinrose
